Telkom Knockout Fixtures 2019

South African top division returns after a brief FIFA international break to feature the coveted 2019 Telkom Knockout Cup. The annual soccer competition is the second trophy up for grab this season after the MTN8 competition was concluded this past weekend. Baroka FC will look to defend their first-ever trophy in the top division of SA football as they visit the high-flying SuperSports United that is fresh from a cup win.

How the Telkom Knockout Draw Works

The Telkom Knockout draw was conducted last week for all 16 teams that participate in the 2019-20 Absa Premiership. According to the PSL, three bowls were used for the TKO draw. The bowls were labelled Pot A, B, C; with the first bowl featuring the top-seeded teams that finished inside the top eight in the 2018-19 PSL season. The second bowl contained the names of the teams that finished in the last half of the PSL table. The last bowl was used to determine which team plays home and away.

The PSL drew a ball from Pot A and without opening it, placed it in an empty Pot B bowl. Teams in the Pot C were placed in the same empty bowl without being opened and then placed into Pot B. The teams drawn first would get a home advantage while the second would mean that the team will play away.
